The tall building on the right is one of the 'project' buildings for lower income housing. There is a current project underway by the CHicago Mayor - Richard M. Daley. Many of these will be torn down, especially near the loop and lake front,

The vast majority of relocatees are not in the suburbs, but in the city of Chicago in the following communities: South Shore, Roseland, and Englewood. In fact, CHA voucher holders make up 15% of rental units in Englewood alone. Residents are also provided relocation services through the Chicago Housing Choice Voucher program which provides heavily subsidized vouchers for lease compliant residents to move to a high opportunity low-crime diverse area of the city. I question how effectively this program will work and leave open any other news I have more than likely missed regarding what immediate housing solutions will be made for the many squatters residing in these buildings.
